Subject: Re: [Az-Geocaching] Abandoned cache?
I agree with Highpointer... if the cache will be replaced and put back in
pretty much the same place (within a hundred feet or whatever), then it
should stay the same GC# and just un-archived. I remember a cache in
Ahwatukee area (It was Fire Closure 2/2A?) that was replaced as a whole new
GC#, yet the cache was in the exact same place. The old one simply should
have been un-archived.

If you move it to a new location, then (in my opinion) it should become a
whole new cache (and GC#).

So I say keep it the same GC# (and save geocaching.com some work and also
wasting another GC#) if you are going to put it back in the same spot.

I tried to contact the owner yesterday but I'm not sure how long I should wait until giving up. I  sent him an earlier e-mail in March regarding the cache that he never responded to. Somewhere I remember reading that abandoned caches are sometimes adopted by other cachers. That's why I thought of doing that, but if Az cachers feel this one should be archived and a new one made, I'll do that. We have the container, log and new goodies all ready to go. Thanks for the input.
