[Az-Geocaching] Adopting a disabled cache

Thanks for the clarification. I've noticed other caches marked as having been 'adopted' and thought that Groundspeak might have had some authority regarding abandoned caches. I guess I'll just wait to see if it ever gets archived (apparently the owners haven't been to geocaching.com since September of '08). I have no interest in appropriating their caching materials, so if it does get archived, I'll just add my own cache and push the damaged one slightly out of the way (and email the owners (again) regarding the new placement). I wasn't interested in any confrontation or in 'forcing' anyone to give me the cache - I thought perhaps there was a procedure in place to deal with abandoned caches. Thank you for setting me straight.
