This is an interesting thread on the issue of caches placed within the limits of NF land, and some of the responses offered by the owners as to why they've not disabled them... a few of these are pretty surprising...

My own Salome Creek Narrows cache is within the Salome Creek Wilderness. Initially, I did not disable this one because at the time of placement, my topo map (and the pop-up Mapquest map from the cache page) did not indicate that this was NF land. I checked again today, and now, the Mapquest map is correctly reading (displaying) the Wilderness boundries. Technically, the land is designated differently than NF land, but is completely surrounded by it, so I'm unsure of the access to, or even the legality or common sense of pursuing the cache, so I'll be disabling it.

So, now I have a question. Can anyone out there post a link to a site that they have found that can provide accurate, current info on National Forest boundries, closures and road access within AZ? I'm sure that I could do a bit of searching, but I'm curious to know what some of our more intrepid local cachers are using for their favorite info source.

I'm not even sure if I can even *drive* thru some places anymore while *not* caching, and may have to do so soon...
