And by placing them in an equilateral triangular configuration (a more efficient packing density) you can get at least 126.

Nope, 106 looks right. 10 in the first row, and then 9 in the second. That means the second row can be 457.26 feet from the first. Then alternate 10 and 9. It looks like you would end up with 6 rows of 10 and 5 of 9 for 125, but you actually have room for a bit over 11.5 rows, so you can forget the triangles and make the last three rows all 10, so you end up with 7 rows of 10 and 4 of 9 for 106. Of course, it?s late, and I?m probably missing something obvious or important, in which case, I?m sure someone will let me know soon?.

I could fit at least 126 caches into a square mile without violating the 528 foot rule.... but maybe that's a puzzle cache for another day. :)
