I have no problems with virtuals but I can see why they try to limit them.
A lot of the early virtual where placed by cachers on vacation that knew
that they could not maintain a traditional cache. Many of these spots would
make a great traditional or a stage of a multi but since a virtual was there
that was no longer an option.
The main type of cache was one with a container but the sport grew to
include other types. Virtuals are nice and have there place but if a
container can be placed there it should.
So the simple rule of thumb is that if the site is suitable for a container
it should have one. And if it has a container it should be maintained.
Virtuals should only be placed when there is no other options. I totally
agree with the no vacation rule because I've seen to many caches that go to
trash because there is no one to maintain it.
Yes I still have a cache in AZ and no I can not personally can not maintain
it. But I have made arrangements with another team to check on it if there
is a problem. Some day I do hole to be able to return but for now it is
still active so I will leave it.
