[Az-Geocaching] G'bye Vista

Being pretty new to the sport but having cached in 10 states I'd have to say I'm a bit spoiled to be an AZ cacher here in the valley. I never give a whole lot of thought to poison ivy, ticks, skeeters and the like. When I cache on the road my whole mindset has to change and I'm amazed at what some cachers have to put up with, so I know what you mean! I'm actually out on LI in NY this weekend and grabbed a few caches with my seven year old today and his mantra was "watch out for the poison ivy"

Jay.

Where in PHX is WWoMs?

I paid $34 for a PNY 2 Gig micro SD card at Best Buy today (St. Louis).

I'm downloading 1.8 Gigs work of maps to it and it will take all night if the program doesn't choke. Not sure if i could do it a few at a time or if they over write each other. Well, if it works then I'm done.

We've got some nice caches here in Missouri if you like to battle the ticks, chiggers and skeeters in the summer and the cold and wind in the winter. Can't wait to live in AZ full time.

Hey, if you are paying more that $10/gig for SD micros your paying too much--check out Fry's Electronics ad in yesterdays Rep.

Wide World of Maps is a store; been in PHX for quite some time--longer than me. I go there to look and feel; really great help staff--don't know if they have a web site.

This could be a major BUST but I hope it works, 2 Gig micro cards aren't cheap and since I travel between St. Louis and Florence quite a bit, I know one day I'm gonna forget to change the cards. So one card would be great.

BTW - WWoM looks like a cool site. Might get one of those topo maps, what is the best scale to get?

Hopefully it won't take the GPSr quite as long to load the map when you turn it on! :-D

I've got Mapsource and the new Topo 2008, been happy witht he combo so far but then again I've never used anything else. I'm copying all of the Topt maps west of the Mississippi on to a 2 gig micro card right now and it's take HOURS. Been 6 hours so far and it's only 45 % done. Hope it works.

First off what's WWoM?

Second - PC Software? Topo? Street mapping? What will you use the 60CSx for. Street navigating or just the great outdoors?

Wide World of Maps

I have a Garmin 60CS (color and sound). Several of my huntin' buds have now gotten the 60CSx because of the color and Topo maps (*and my recommendations). It may be about to become obsolete, but who cares? You paid a lot less than I did! What more could they possibly add?

Bill
