Apparently, I'm not familiar with that story.....could you enlighten me?

Thanks to everyone for the ideas...I think I may get my facts together and
do just what Scott suggested. At the very least, I'll call and speak to the
manager about it. Thanks everyone!

Crystal

Hey, this guy has got to be Christine Leonard's little brother, or member in
"bad" standing of ELF.

Being very professional about it... I would make a copy of the written laws
showing the legality of geocaching on each of the individual lands (state
trust, forest, BLM, etc) and take those copies into REI. Ask to talk to the
manager at that particular store. Tell the manager that you brought your GPS

that you purchased at REI in for some troubleshooting. While there, said
employee made some comments about your favorite hobby and that those
comments kind of disturbed you. Then show the manager the copies of the laws

and prove the employee's comments were wrong. Then explain to the manager
that you don't feel their employee's should be mis-representing the game of
geocaching. You might also mention that this employee also said he goes out
and steals caches and throws them away.

... you might also explain to the manager that there are many other major
retailers of GPS's and outdoor supplies within a short drive of any REI
store.
