To underscore the seriousness of that fire, remember that 6 people died trying to battle that blaze. I bet you all were scared Apryl. But an interesting adventure for you.
The Aspen fire was the name of the fire at Summerhaven on Mount Lemmon.
(end rant)

Wow the Dude Fire..does that bring back memories. I was a camp counselor at hmmmmm the girl scout ranch that butts up to Camp Geronimo under the Rim. That was an interesting 2 weeks...300 plus girls and some scared counselors all being evac'd to Prescott. What a beautiful place it was before the fire and it's really come back quite beautifully.
Granted my better memories are of the firemen camping out in our camp areas...sigh...ah the joys of youth

Cactus Forest area (south of Florence) was a pretty area, and now some people may end up without homes. For anyone on this list who is new to Arizona, please do not throw cigarettes out the car window, please watch your campfires, please do not use any fireworks or sparklers. Arizona tends to be flammable. Tragic fires in our history include the Rodeo-Chediski fire, the Dude fire, a brush fire in Scottsdale called something like the Rio fire and a fire on Mount Lemmon, whose name I cant remember (Pusch Ridge???)
