Scott,

Have you looked in National Geographic TOPO!?  Of course, it isn't the
cheapest thing going.  I've been using the AZ state series on my desktop and
have been quite satisfied with the functionality.  I haven't tried the
TopoSync yet, but plan to too.  It looks to be functional.  The AZ state
series gives you all of the topos for AZ down to 1:24,000 and costs about
$100.  TopoSync runs on PocketPC and Palm and runs about $40.  Definitely
worth the price if you like your maps as much as I do!

I prefer topo maps and I am still looking for a topo map software for the
Palm 
OS. Has anyone found any?
