Hi Cheryl! Glad to see you will be spending time in AZ, this is the perfect place!
To answer you questions, we do have somewhat of a geocaching organization in Tucson, not formal but lots of great people get together time to time. We have adopted a wash (usually dry runoff from rain) to CITO and after the cleanup go out for something to eat or find some caches.
Quite a few of us get together for cache hunts often, I would like to extend an invitation to you to contact me when you are here and I can give you some of the ins and outs of the area etc. We can do a cache hunt if you like, we have LOTS of caches in the area. We also do quite a bit of off-road caching which is what we like the best along with some great hikes.
Yes, there are quite a few lakes and some rivers where you can kayak that are not too far from Oro Valley, we have learned that a few hours drive is normal and well worth it. We don't actually live in Oro Valley but next to it in unincorporated Pima County which encompasses a lot, our daughter lives in Oro Valley about 5 miles from our house. We live on 5 acres at the base of the Tortolita mountains and love it here.

You definitely need to pay attention to "wilds of Arizona" as that is where to find the real Arizona.

Stay safe and healthy,

Hi,

I got your E-mail through AZgeocaching and thought I would say hi. I bought a winter home in Oro Valley last spring and am looking forward to spending time there this winter so
was excited when I saw you were from Oro Valley. Is there a local geocaching organization in the Tucson area? And you mentioned a canoe....I am a kayaker but was unaware of much water in that part of the world...shold I be paying more attention to what is out there in the wilds of Arizona?

Anyway I hope you have a wonderful week-end with your Grandkids and perhaps I'll get to meet all of you this winter.

Thanks,

Cheryl
Shvllady

I was wondering if anyone could answer a question. We are thinking of going to Parker Canyon Lake to camp with our grandchildren this coming weekend.

1. We have a pop-up trailer that is self contained.
2. How crowded does the campground get (we are thinking of Lakeview Campground?)
3. We would have to leave after the kids get out of school around 3:30 from Tucson (Oro Valley)
4. Are there other areas to camp if the campground is full?
5. How long would it take to get there from Oro Valley, I am thinking around 2 1/2 hours.
6. We would bring a canoe and would like to be able to go to a lake.
7. Would this weekend (Labor Day Weekend) be a big factor?
8. Does anyone have any other suggestions? We have been to Patagonia Lake and would like someplace different.

Thanks in advance,

Mel
