Hannah:
Geocaching is simply a form of treasure hunting, with
a twist.
You find the 'treasure' with the aid of a GPS
recevier, and follow the coordinates posted on
www.geocaching.com and download or copy these
coordinates from paper or to your GPS with the aid of
your PC, and see if you can find the hidden 'cache'
and sign the log(usually stored inside the cache).
Then you return to the website and posst that you
found the cache, and note the date and time if you
wish.
You will also notice odd letters after their find,
like: TNLN, SL, TFTH and acronyms like these.
What they are, are shortened comments, and in order
that I posted them, they stand for the following;
Took Nothing Left Nothing, Signed Log and Thanks For
The Hunt.
It's even more fun when you actually meet the people
that post on Geocaching websites, like Geocaching.com.
If you are in the east valley area, and would like to
get your feet wet and get better acquainted with how
things are done, and where to look, I'll be happy to
have you along and join in on the fun....I'm just
getting back into this after a several year hiatus,
and I too am still learning.
Let me know if this interests you, and we can set up a
time to get together and get our notes ready for a
find outing.
You can reach me through my signature posted below.
I am located in Queen Creek and travel all around the
valley trying to find teh elusive caches, and I'd
really enjoy the company too.
Thank you for your interest and I look forward to
seeing you outdoors with your own GPS unit, finding
the goods as well.
Take care and best of luck with this new
hobby/interest!
Sincerely
Ernest
