+1 for the listserv.
If controlling what is said in communication is relegated to a forum venue,
either someone would have to be there to play censor (would they be
objective?) and all posts moderated; or posts would get through that one
might have issue with and would later be moderated by someone, whose
objectivity at this point due to anonymity can be questioned, would
certainly be questioned. What if 99% of people who would have normally read
the post and saw nothing wrong with it, but it happened to be that 1% who
moderate the posts that had a problem with it?
The listserv has served well over the years, and I suspect the forums would
be used as much as geocrazed has been. No offense to the admins of that
forum, but it serves well to illustrate the point that a forum wouldn't do
well overall. On that note, geocrazed appears to be down and completely
wiped out at this point.
