Here is a reponse to balance the discussion out. My eTrex click stick
failed, the screen started showing vertical lines, etc. Contacted Garmin and
they asked the purchase date. It was just out of warranty so they wanted
something like $150 to fix it - the cost of a new unit. YMMV.

I had excellent results with having my old Legend repaired by Garmin years
ago, so I'd contact them first directly on their website to make
arrangements. I don't suppose your unit is still under warranty - yeah,
probably not. But I've heard others with good stories about their repairs
