That it is. The area down there on the Goldwater range is Restricted
Airspace. While flight of general aviation aircraft is not totally
prohibited, it is restricted (hence the name of that type of airspace).
Typically there are hours of operation in which the airspace is used
(typically for ground and aerial military operation training). When not
being used, the airspace is released to the controlling agency (FAA/ATC).
Pilots are responsible for checking current NOTAMS (Notices to Airmen) to
find out when these restricted areas are active. I think the airspace over
the cache in question is R-2301W and is always active. The closest
restricted airspace to the Phoenix area is just SE of Florence Junction and
is typically only active on intermittant weekends (usually when the national
guard is doing their training out there).

So there is your little airspace lesson for today. :)

I am going to be in Yuma in two weeks and would be interested in doing this
cache if there are any local Yuma cachers that would like to plan a small
expedition to this cache. It looks like a good one and I would certainly be
interested in hiking to it. There is another cache that can be had along the
way to it as well. I am going to have a trailer and equiptment in it that I
would rather not leave parked in the desert just off of I-8 (!) so would
need to ride along with someone else. Any cachers in Yuma want to plan a
small group assault on this cache for either Nov 17, 18 or 19th? It looks
like it is very hike-able, looking at Google Earth. Im not sure it is really
a 5 terrain. It is probably a nice little climb though! This cacher also
placed another cache on Tinajas Peak (south end of the same mountain range)
that looks to be a very quality cache as well. It requires some very lengthy
off road driving and then a very lengthy hike to the cache as well and it is
just north of the border. These both look like very quality caches.
