Volunteers' cleanup lauded
The Southern Arizona Geocachers were recognized for their efforts after
adopting a section of Alamo Wash through the Tucson Clean & Beautiful
Adopt-a-Park and Public Areas Program.
The section runs from East Grant Road to East Pima Street.
Nina Trasoff, Tucson city councilwoman for Ward 6, and representatives
from Tucson Clean & Beautiful and the Tucson Transportation Department
recognized volunteers at a ceremony Saturday at the Alamo Wash crossing
just north of Pima Street.
Officials of the Tucson Parks and Recreation Department and Tucson
Clean & Beautiful will join Abe Marques, aide to Ward 5 Councilman Steve
Leal, in honoring the Airmen Against Dirty Parks group of Davis-Monthan
Air Force Base for its Adopt-a-Park effort at noon Thursday at Swan
Park, 1700 S. Swan Road.
The group performs regular cleanups, provides condition reports and
alerts officials to emergency needs at the neighborhood park, which
covers 6 acres and includes two picnic sites and a playground.
The Adopt-a-Park and Public Areas Program provides community-service
opportunities to unite the public and private sectors in making Tucson a
cleaner and safer place.
