The desert has its high points too. Nothing like the smell of the desert after a rain. The full triple rainbow I once saw during a spring rain, its colors so bright my eyes stung. And the cactus flowers, stunning. My closest bear encounter was in Arizona, in Canyon del Muerto (part of Canyon de Chelly). A young adult fishing in the creek maybe 50 feet away. Great memories.
My old bones need the desert now. Arthritis etc from old injuries. The summer heat feels so good at times.
