I am retired AF too, 23 years. All of it in Space Command. I have seen a B-26. On a visit to Tuscon several years ago I finally got to see an A-10 up close. No wait, the first one I saw for real was in the Azores. I miss serving.

lol, yep old fogey, actually winding down work and sliding slooooooowly into retirement... Retired AF.... I will really show the age ..... the first unit I was with still had a B-26. Later ran the F-105's out of Korat and Takhli into pack 5 and 6. Still havent reached 60 yet.....

    Rockhound,
Talking about F105s is giving away your age, just a wee bit!

I would guess the A-whatevers were originally A-7's and later (almost simultaneously) the A-10's. We had a training unit for A-7's in Tucson, then the Myrtle Beach AFB closing moved the A-10's there. Oh, and dont forget those F-105's.

Lived on several Air Force bases. Family would come to visit and occasionally one would ask if we get tired of the noise. I'd respond, "no I never get tired of the sound of freedom."

Apryl, you did a wonderful job of recalling the airplanes. The A-whatevers are one of my favorite airplanes to watch along with all the Fing airplanes; F15, F16, F5, F4, F111, F117. However, KC-10s don't lumber. C5s lumber.

Where we used to live was right north of Luke AFB so we always had the planes zipping by overhead. My fav is the big old DC-10 (don't kill me if that's the wrong number/name) lumbering over the house. Always felt like the roof was gonna come down on top of us.

I like watching the A-whatever's down when I went to UofA fly around as well. Navy brat here and married to the Army...sigh...2 WAY different worlds. Hmm actually I've dated a person in each of the branches...just thought about that. LOL!!! Sigh...
