Yes, I have a USB to serial adaptor to plug my Celestron scope into my
computer. I suppose the same one will work for my Legend? I'll give that a
try, but I still think I am going to want the unit Garmin makes for this
situation.

If you don't have a serial port, don't despair either. Compact USB to
serial adapters are inexpensive. Long live RS-232!
