I've always understood that the first Arizona cache was Geocache, by Dan Rich. (GC57)

     Looks like you were nailed on a technicality.  Also you are three years  
overdue for hiding an additional 20 caches, come on lets see them.   
Hahahaha.  Me curiosity has been juggled a bit though, where was the first AZ  
geocache? Someone has to know.
