Hey Ken,
I have a Fuji FinePix 2650 that I love. It takes excellent pictures and
is small enough to carry easily. It has 2 megapixels resolution. It's not
great for low light level pictures, but does most of what I need well. The
camera I really have my eyes on is the Canon 1DS which uses the standard EOS
lenses and has a detector that is the same size as a 35mm frame. It's got 11
megapixels. Unfortunately, it costs about $8000 - without any lenses! Ok,
at least I can dream right? The Canon 10D is my fallback camera when I
strike the jackpot - it costs less than $1500..... I guess I may be dreaming
for a long time. BTW, you can find the FinePix 2650 for about $200 or maybe
a little less if you shop around or look on the internet. I've also used a
Fuji FinePix S602Zoom which is a great camera for about $600 that has a lot
of manual controls on it as well as automatic functions. I'd check out one
of the digital camera webpages and look at the reviews you'll find there.
The one I saw a couple days ago allowed you to sort by price or by company
and probably a few other ways. (I think I found that particular review page
starting at the default www.netscape.com webpage....).
Good luck!
Jim.
