Subject: [Az-Geocaching] Old dog, new tricks!
I recently took my father on an overnight camping trip. He's in his 70's, and doesn't get out much to "play". We found 2 caches the first day, and 3 the second, and he LOVED it! He couldn't wait to get out again. He couldn't walk for 2 days afterwards, but he absolutely loved every minute of it.

Then last month he and my mom flew back to anchorage, AK to visit my brother's family. I had got my brother Ron interested in this game recently, so of course they went out and found a few up there. Even hid one! When I picked my parents up from the airport, he had a cool new walking staff that one of the grandchildren carved for him out of really light, extremely strong wood.... and he's ready to get out again and hunt for somemore with his new "GeoCaching Stick"!

It really makes me happy to see him finding something to be excited about that gives him a little exercise too. You know they say that old age isn't a number, it's a lack of movement. I saw a young kid in his eyes again when we've been out seeking caches. I just thought I'd share that story with the group.

Incidently, we're really fortunate out here to have access to our caches year round. Up there, many caches spend 4-6 months buried under the snow!
