I am a former forest fire fighter, but I have to admit that I don't know
the answer to your question. I would think that in places like southern
Arizona it would get hotter at ground level since that is where most of the
fuel is. I fought fire in northern Idaho and it would get hot in the
canopy of the trees where the majority of the fuel is.
