Subject: [Az-Geocaching] Trash in Tonto Revisited
I wanted to read everyone's responses before I weighed in again. Thanks
to all who posted. I think I can summarize the messages that were posted
as follows: most people who responded to my original post seem to be in
favor of a "Trash Out" event cache, but a number of you voiced concern
about informing the National Forest Service.

I've only lived here for five years, and I haven't "grown up" with the
land management issues as some of you have. From my perspective, though,
the NFS already knows that Geocaching exists, and I suspect the Ranger
Districts in the state are very aware that many caches are placed on
land under their jurisdiction. I'd like to think they're looking at
whatever evidence they find, good and bad, prior to developing a policy,
but perhaps I'm being naive. If Geocaching were below their radar, I
might be inclined to do whatever possible to keep it that way. I don't
believe that to be the case, though. I think we ought to exploit the
opportunity to show them we are far less of a threat than those who use
Forest Service lands as a dumping ground for empty beer cans and spent
shotgun shells.

Your thoughts, please.
