I still like the idea of having a section of PVC pipe with a spigot on it.
Stick it in the ground and it'd look like an oasis in the desert.

Regarding the issue of having caches look "safe" - I hear the newest
cache in the Chandler foothills is an old casing for a proximity mine!!!
