If only to be able to view maps on your PC in MapSource, the DVD is the way to go.

Subject: [Az-Geocaching] Garmin Maps - Advice Needed

One last question.

Since I am switching to Garmin I will have to buy new maps. I am getting the Colorado 400t so it will already have a base map and a topo map. But I am going to also buy City Navigator so I can do driving directions. They offer it on both the preprogrammed SD card as well as on a CD. Is there an upside/downside to either?

If you buy the SD card is there space left over on the card for my own data as well (like storing caches and routes). Or can I can transfer their data from the SD card they send to a larger SD card of mine to make more room? Or is there another reason I should or shouldn't have the CD vs the SD card?
