[Az-Geocaching] News for Garmin MapSource and Google Earth Users

Garmin released a new MapSource beta (6.9.0.2) on Friday. This is a free
download (http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=997) if you
own the base software. There's now a menu selection that lets you see your
MapSource data in Google Earth without first having to save a GPX file.

There's also a fairly-new beta (3.0.0616) of Google Earth itself. But as
someone mentioned here recently about their Palm, this version does not play
nicely with Windows XP Media Center of Windows XP for Tablet PCs. Plus your
video card driver may have been downgraded if you installed XP Service Pack
2, which could adversely affect Google Earth. This is not Google's problem
(they have a workaround in the install notes for Google Earth; good luck
with it if all you have are system restore disks). If it ever gets resolved,
the solution will have to come out of Microsoft. You can get the Google
Earth update from the program's Help menu.
