[Az-Geocaching] Magellan's Game

I didn't participate in the 2003 contest. From what I have heard, that
one was a nothing but a big snafu. Last year was apparently much
better. The cache placed in Phoenix was the last one of the summer. I
was fortunate enough to be fourth to find. Clues were given during the
week and then finally the coordinates were listed. Out of the 30(or
was it 31 or 32?) caches last summer, I seem to recall two of them
were actually found before the coordinates were released. If I
remember correctly, one was found after the fourth and final clue and
another was actually found either after the second clue or the third
clue. Also, I believe one of the locals was within yards of the cache
last year on the day before the coordinates were released. I don't
know what the FTF prize was in Phoenix, but when I sent in my
certificate, Magellan sent me a campground book, some cheesy
sunglasses, an inexpensive 4-in-1 light, and a motorcycle magazine and
a certificate for a one year subscription to the magazine.

Overall, I enjoyed keeping track of all the caches and the wild
speculations that were occurring as clues were given out. What was
funny is that some of the speculations, all though a wild @$$ guess,
ended up being correct.

Good luck!
