>Well, if you want to get into the semantics of it,
the problem lies in e-mail program settings. For
example, in Outlook2k3, the option is buried 2layers
deep to change the setting to reply to messages with
the previous contents listed below the text reply (or
not). The depth by which MS makes you dig for these
changes can intimidate users who may not understand
what they're looking at. Remember, not everyone is an
IT freak, and while we can all find caches with the
best of 'em, there are things that everyone at some
point needs help with.
I would agree with this Brian. There is a huge
difference tho between those who want to learn &
better themselves, and, those who know it all or plead
ignorance as a defense. As with all things new, being
willing to learn is the key and therein lies the real
difference.
<snipped> For all we know, there could be at least one
person out there who thought it was 'always that way'
and had no idea such a setting existed to remove the
previous message text in their response.
And... reading about it in discussions like this is
just as likely to motivate someone to 'make the
change'.
>Now, I kept the previous 2 paragraphs PC for the sake
of argument, but this one I'm not.
A difference between the two of us then. I speak my
mind and make no apology for it. Life is not a
popularity contest to me. I tell it like it is and if
you don't like it, *shrug* that is your choice.
>First of all, if you want someone to take you
seriously, you must first earn their respect.
Would that be the PC way? ... or being true to
yourself way? *smirk Down Boy* (oops that is not PC...
bad fingers bad bad bad fingers!) Hey, it's a legit
question ;-) Personally I choose the second way.
>Ranting and insulting 98% of the people who read/post
here with your first ever post on the listserv isn't
the way to earn said respect.
Apparently we don't have the same opinion of what
*ranting and insulting* is. This was merely a 'soap
box', just wait till there is a fire lit under this
redhead! ;-) Tho... I do tend to avoid that level,
it's not really within my nature unless you royally
tinkle in my cheerios!
>Also, using demeaning language like what is contained
in your last paragraph is certainly not the approach
to use if you want ANYONE to take you seriously.
Oh for gawd sakes, lighten up dude. Hardly demeaning
*laugh*... if you can't handle a little light hearted
humor, your gonna be in for one heck of a wild ride
while I'm around. Life is too short to be SO serious
that you can't handle *obvious humor* <tho I'm not
quite sure what 'last paragraph' you are talkin' about
since it's not quoted - I'm 'ass'uming that it is over
the "Disclaimer" and all my make believe kin &
neighbors>
>I hardly think you're going to make friends in this
circle with that level of insulting sarcasm.
Hey, ya win some ya lose some - don't sweat the small
stuff - cuz it's all small stuff!
<Oh, and to add insult to injury, it's dilEmma.
Dang it, busted me spellin' already and I'm barely
outta the startin' gate! I better go write it down
100 times on the squeeky chalk board till I gets it
write...er right <ahhh, then again... *perk* - perhaps
I'll get spanked if I do it wrong - oh wait... wrong
list!> I don't understand 'insult to injury' tho, cuz
I ain't neither, no I ain't!!
DISCLAIMER:<snipped>
...ahhh, wait, never mind... been there, done that ;-)
Kerrilynn <who promises to go sit on her fingers for a
bit and let this all settle down now. I've had my
cyber listserv fix for the week. Time to prepare for
the wild weekend *whooohooo*
