We got 7 inches of rain in NW Yavapai county, NW of CHino and Paulden, that is...which is the Verde river drainage area. The Verde crested 13 feet (I heard the initial, live warning from Nick, the head of Emergency Managemnt on the radio yesterday morning) This flooded some property near Clarkdale, Cottonwood and esp Bridgeport and I guess down into Camp Verde. I didn't see too much damage to housing, mostly property and outbuildings (corrals, stables, etc) unless there was other news footage I didn't see.
I heard the Sheriff Office asking our Forest Deputies (the ones we work with for Search and Rescue) asking if any of their SAR volunteers in Collonwood had a canoe....! Hmmm....then later on the news I saw the Swift Water Rescue team from Sedona Fire rescuing a woman who went out to rescue a dog...a LAB. I thought,,,,silly, it's a Lab, it will SWIM when the water slows...but I guess the poor dog had been shot. Geez! Quite a news story for our sleepy county,
I like the rain, we sure need it with this long-term drought and the projecgted drought, we just need it spread out some!
