Something similar has been done at most of the recent event caches. A set
of coordinates is given to everyone in attendence. Then, everyone takes a
marker of some kind and places it exactly where their GPSR 'zeros out'.
Usually, the scattering of markers is pretty wide, with some really strange
outliers. It's a very interesting experiment. I don't think that anyone
has done the brand analysis though. Maybe at tomorrows event in CG?

Subject: Re: [Az-Geocaching] Help! Inaccurate Coordinates & Missing Cache
Has anyone ever run a curiosity check... say 6 people approach a cache with
their GPSrs.. 2 Magellan, 2 Garmin, 2 assorted... all different models...all
with identical coordinates, same day/same time.
Are there significant margins of error between a) different models/ same
manufacturer; b) different manufacturers at a time when weather/ satellite
reception/ foliage/ sunspot activity is identical and can be discounted as
an accuracy factor?? Which brands/models fare best?
