[Az-Geocaching] State Trust Land

Some one mentioned that if you have a valid hunting license,
that is only true if you are actively hunting, with a gun scouting does not
count. If not you are considered trespassing. I would also recommend the
permit.

A valid Arizona hunting license will also allow you on State Trust Lands
(it's a little more, though, $25.50). If you have one, you really don't need
the recreation permit.

Someone's already pointed out how to get the permit, but this site has
all the details:
http://www.land.state.az.us/programs/natural/rec_offroad_permit.htm

The State Land Department (AKA "The Land Trust") has no objection to
Geocaching. But caching or otherwise, you can be nicked for a pretty
hefty fine if you are found on Trust Land without the permit, so it's a
pretty good investment of fifteen or twenty dollars. For most folks
that's probably less than the gas it costs to drive to a patch of Trust
Land these days.

I guess this answers the other question I had as well

http://www.gf.state.az.us/outdoor_recreation/or_faqs.html

Question
Do I need a permit to operate my OHV on State Trust Land?

Answer
Yes. You must have a recreational permit or a hunting or fishing license to
be on State Land.
However, a hunting or fishing license is valid only if you are actively
engaged in hunting or fishing.

Recreational Permits are available for individuals and families and are
issued for one year from the date of purchase. The Individual Permit is
$15.00 and the Family Permit is $20.00. Non-profit group and event
recreational permits are also available. They require a different permit and
usually require a longer processing time. You may pick up your recreational
permit in person at the State Land Department main office at 1616 West
Adams, Phoenix AZ 85007. Permit applications can also be requested by mail
or by telephone during normal business hours by calling (602) 364-2753.

As pointed out by Evil Fish.. Having the fishing license in hand while not
having a pole or being anywhere near water will not count. You have to be
doing whatever the sport is.. ie: A deer hunting permit from last season
will not get you anything nor will walking with a fishing pole 10 miles from
the nearest water source.

Permits can be obtained on a walk in basis. I had mine and was out of the
office in less then 10 minutes.

Hello.. I am currently holding a Travel Bug that wants to go to Scottland
Yard and it wants to meet police along the way..

Anyone know of any Geocaching police? (I do mean real and paid law
enforcement officers, not geocachers who police after others :-} )

It would be nice to find someone between Casa Grande and Benson that I can
pass this off to just to keep the spirit of the bug moving..

Thanks

ShadowAce

Well, I'm not sworn, but work for DPS. :) I'm the 'other end of the radio'
for all the officer in metro Phoenix at hours when only vampires should be
awake. I could certainly arrange for the TB to be in the presence of
uniformed officers, or it could spend a shift with me at work, helping keep
my squads safe.

Part of hunting is pre-season scouting. So even when not in season,
and with no implement in hand, it is still considered 'hunting', and you do
not need a rec permit. Now fishing is another matter...

As pointed out by Evil Fish.. Having the fishing license in hand while not
having a pole or being anywhere near water will not count. You have to be
doing whatever the sport is.. ie: A deer hunting permit from last season
