I realize this is off-topic, but with folks amongst us who spend time
in the backcountry, perhaps this will be of interest to some:

> We need your help locating a missing plane in the White Mountain
> area!
>
> I have been helping the family of the missing pilot try to locate
> his
> crash site. They have asked me to try to organize a ground search
> on
> Sunday April 18th. Those who coordinate with me and carpool
> together
> up will have their gas covered. For those of you who like hiking
> this
> is a chance to enjoy a hike in the White Mountains, do a good deed,
>
> and get your travel gas paid for!
>
> The four seat single engine Beechcraft Bonanza took off from Falcon
>
> Field in Mesa en route to Dallas Texas on September 21, 2003. The
> plane disappeared off radar just west of White River AZ. This was
> normal as the radar coverage is poor in that area and does not
> improve until the New Mexico Border. There was also normal radio
> communication with the pilot three minutes after radar contact was
> lost so it is known that the plane continued on beyond the point
> radar contact was lost. We are planning to search an area south of
> Mount Baldy. The family has put up a reward of $5000 for the
> discovery of the plane. If any one from our group does find the
> plane
> the reward will be divided equally among everyone in our search
> group.
>
> If you are interested in helping, or more details please contact
> me.
