I think designation as wilderness is automatically too extreme. For =
example, wilderness prohibits almost all access by disabled persons, =
since vehicles, including wheel chairs, are excluded. I am surprised =
nobody has sued under ADA. There are other designations that can =
protect an area without being so elitist.
