I recently took my father on an overnight camping trip. He's in his =
70's, and doesn't get out much to "play". We found 2 caches the first =
day, and 3 the second, and he LOVED it! He couldn't wait to get out =
again. He couldn't walk for 2 days afterwards, but he absolutely loved =
every minute of it. =20
Then last month he and my mom flew back to anchorage, AK to visit my =
brother's family. I had got my brother Ron interested in this game =
recently, so of course they went out and found a few up there. Even hid =
one! When I picked my parents up from the airport, he had a cool new =
walking staff that one of the grandchildren carved for him out of really =
light, extremely strong wood.... and he's ready to get out again and =
hunt for somemore with his new "GeoCaching Stick"! =20
It really makes me happy to see him finding something to be excited =
about that gives him a little exercise too. You know they say that old =
age isn't a number, it's a lack of movement. I saw a young kid in his =
eyes again when we've been out seeking caches. I just thought I'd share =
that story with the group. =20
Incidently, we're really fortunate out here to have access to our caches =
year round. Up there, many caches spend 4-6 months buried under the =
snow! =20
