While perusing the caches I've found in the Billings area, I came across a note from a reporter for the Billings Gazzette looking for someone to introduce him to geocaching, and possibly take him around to a few caches. Even though I'm not 'local', I gave him a call to offer myself for a morning of caching/chatting (the cachers in this area aren't NEARLY as active as AZ).

He seemed genuinely interested in the sport/hobby (describing it as potentially addictive), and I believe his article will be a very positive spin on the sport.

Anyways, I met up with him and a photographer this morning, and took him to Black Otter Trail (GC46E7) and a cache I placed with the help of my father-in-law, Stagecoach (GCGFC9). He really enjoyed the morning, and asked many questions (a reporter asking questions?!?!), and even told me he'd be buying a GPS and would let me know when he made his first find. The photographer I think was also interested, and may very well join the masses too one of these days. He also took a bunch of pictures.

While we were out, he was called back to the office to fly out and cover a rather large wildfire (went from 20'x20' to 62000+ acres literally overnight) NE of Billings, so the day was cut a little short.

At any rate, I think I gave him enough to write an article that really makes geocaching look good, and emphasizes the reward of being in the outdoors and finding the cache(s). Plus, I hooked a total of 4 people on the sport while here on vacation. :) As soon as I know when it's going to be in the paper, I'll link to it online.
