You know, Brian, there's this great resource out there called
azgeocaching.com... ;) heh heh heh :)
As for cache regrets, I'd say it's 'Kippers in the Desert'. While it's not
one that I couldn't find, it is one that I regretfully never made the
attempt to find. I was at a friends place right down the road from it, had
my GPS in hand, but never made it out there. I had watched that cache for
months (back then there were so few caches around!) and really wanted to
find it since I was so close. Alas, that was not to be and I have nothing
to blame but my own laziness. But then again, I'm not called 'LazyK' for
nothing...
As for cache embarrasments (not a regret yet because it's still active),
that's definately 'Desert Half Pipe'. a 1/1 cache stumped us for the better
part of an hour. We took our lumps and posted a 'Not Found'. Hopefully,
though, we'll get back out there and find that sucker before it really does
go missing. But then again...refer to the last sentence of the previous
paragraph...

If memory serves me correctly, Sparky's Stash was a small paint can that was
stashed in a bush along the southside of a building on the ASU campus. This
building that is located just north across a small street from Gammage
Auditorium. I remember going back twice to find it, and getting totally
lucky. It was hidden behind a very small palm plant. You had to climb up
into the planter area (a feat better advised at night), and when you found
it you needed to call upon your prying skills, because the can was nearly
rusted shut.

Isn't that the one on the side of A Mountain? I looked for that sucker for
over an hour at 11PM or so and ended up above it 2 or 3 times
second-guessing myself. But once you get close to the cache itself, it kind
of finds you.

The one that pops into my mind is the Aqua Fria cache. My first try was by
four wheel drive from the north. At the time, the lake water was up so high
that there was no way to get a land vehicle anywhere near the cache. My
second try was from the south by hiking in on wild burro trails. Got to
within 1.25 miles of it and came to a small version of the Grand Canyon. By
that time I had less than half my water supply left and had to turn back. I
actually did run out of drinking water, but had a fresh gallon in the truck
when I got back to it. In the mean time, the clue I wanted from that cache
to solve the Chain Cache, had been changed to a more accessible cache. I
still haven't gone back to get the Aqua Fria cache, but would like to when
it is accessible by Jeep.

The listserv has been amazingly quiet lately. Here's a question I'll toss
out in an effort to stimulate some conversation.
If you've been caching for awhile there is probably at least one cache you
tried to find several times without success. You REALLY wanted it but it
eluded you. Others have found it. It now may be archived and you'll have to
live with your failure forever. One that comes to mind for me is Ya Skala.
What is yours?
Any takers?
Jerry
