Steve,
I'm assuming that you haven't been able to read the page yet, (still
being approved...but I can get to it) or you would know what I am
talking about. I meant that the USFS estimates that up to 80% of the
pines will be killed this year due to the bark beetles. It is quite
horrible to see the stands of dead, brown trees. Which is why I put up
this virtual, so people can see it for themselves.
The one article I read (from NAU) said that some aerial surveys showed
significant areas of 100% dead trees around Flagstaff. Ruins the
enjoyment, plus more fire danger.
Hope you can get up here (to the mountains, anywhere) and see.
