I think it boils down to how much care you give your camera. I've been
hauling sevral thousand dollars worth of digiatal camera stuff for quite
some time and have never has any problems. I just make sure that I keep
it in it's padded case whenever it's not being used.

What I would do is check out different digital camera sites that have
reviews of cameras. A lot of them show you a some standard pictures they
take so that you can see the quality of the picture. Then just find a
camera in the approx. price range you have with an appealing look and pick
it up. I would probably recommend something in the $300 to $500 range for
geocacing. The just pick up a small camera bag that lets you get the
camera in and out of easily. and you should be all set. Just make sure
there is plenty of room for spare batteries. There is nothing worse than
taking lots of pictures while on the way to the cache just to find that
when you get to the cache your batteries are dead. Thats what happened to
me at table mesa, I ended up using the spare batteries that were in the
cache to take pictures of the cache.
