So long as you are on Forest Service land (look for the brown posts) and there are no postings you can shoot. I have some favorite spots East of the Valley. I, like you, tend to come home with more trash than I went with. It is ashame people are slobs. THey leave trash lying around and then wonder why the Government closes areas. These areas a even better if you have four-wheel drive. You can escape the crazy clueless folks who just want to show off their new "toy" and waste ammo shooting at their recently emptied beer cans.
We have had good luck throwing a tarp down to keep the brass and shell casings contained.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Hey all,Spoke to a BLM agent last weekend up around Table Mesa who advised of fire restrictions in effect that will disallow target or any other firearm shooting on BLM land in the Phoenix area until at least August when the monsoons come in and "decombusticate" (yes I just made up a word) everything.I'd rather not have to pay range fees and I'd rather not have to wait for the range nazis to give the clear to fire anyways. I'm a big boy and I know when its ok to discharge my weapon. At any rate, I was wondering if any of you might know where a good place to shoot up north might be? I'm obviously looking for a place that wouldn't be hindered by the fire restrictions here in the Phoenix area.
I am a cacher and I DO practice CITO. I save all my brass for recycling and I don't leave shells at all. Thanks in advance for any help any of you can provide.
