Moosemob,
My 270W announces turns with street names. There may be lesser 2xx
models that do not.
This is a great feature (with a volume control) but a bit annoying on
tight city streets as the GPS catches up with the road I just missed.
At the very least, be sure the unit has built in maps for the area you
will travel. I believe the loadable data cards are a nuisance.

I am tempted to get opne of those myself, but I think the upper
series would work better.
The 200 series do not speak street names: "Turn right 200 feet"
The 700 series do speak street names" "Turn right on Elm Street 200
feet"
I know how far 200 feet is, my sweetie would turn too early or too
late.

of
GPS system I have not really even looked into.
Thanks in advance.
