Well of course all logs do make it to the
cache owner. I was thinking more of a process of establishing that the cache
has been
abandoned. Something like send an e-mail
to the cache owner 3 times every 2 weeks or every month. If they haven’t
answered
by then you can post a SBA log, stating
the situation ( old geezer ) and that you have tried contacting the cache owner
3 times.
Then when the SBA note gets to the
reviewer, you will already have established that the cache is abandoned and
have further
justified ( in addition to the geezer
issue ) the SBA log.

Chime In?
Thanks for the response Nicolo. I actually did not send an e-mail
directly to the owner. I'm under the impression that all logs are e-mailed
straight to the cache owner (as mine are) so I assume the cache owner will
receive an e-mail notification with what I wrote in my log.
Yes, LaRobley's board is very well done. I'll post there as well if anyone
would rather reply on a threaded board. Here's the link:

Even if it turns out that the cache is in
a “legal” location, it’s not wanted there and it’s only
a matter of time before that codger gets it moved. Sounds like an
uncomfortable place to search for a cache
anyway ( dogs barking, geezers yelling at you ) … it hardly seems worth
it.
I assume that you sent the owner an e-mail
…? You mentioned that the cache owner hasn’t signed on to
geocaching.com for a while. A series of time-spaced
e-mails would begin the process of
confirming whether or not the owner has abandoned the cache, leading to an
archiving of the cache. Anyway that’s what I’d do.
As for a message board, well, as you know,
there is a board maintained by larobly : http://superstitioncachers.phpbb3pro.com/index.php
- it’s worth a visit.
I know that several people here
don’t seem to be fond of boards but discussions such as these are
facilitated by a threaded discussion … just my thoughts.

Yo AZ Geocachers! This is simpjkee. I always get these e-mails, but
rarely post.
Anyway, I ran into a very interesting caching situation on Saturday.
I'm still new to this game so I'm wondering what all of you guys and gals think
about this and what you think about what I did and any advice for what to do in
future situations.
The cache I'm referring to is: GCN05H You can read all the deatails
there, but I'll give a synopsis here.
This cache is in
I had decided that this was a first time deal and I was going to
request that the owner move or archive the cache since it wasn't welcome. When
I got home, I was really surprised to see that this neighbor situation has been
an ongoing issue for over a year and that the cache owner has called the police
on the neighbor (over the issue of wether this is a public hiking trail, etc).
I still requested that this cache be archived. It seems like this
geocache is only instigating more trouble and furthurmore, the owner has
not logged on since April 2007.
So ya wanna chime in? I'd appreciate hearing what you guys have to say.

P.S. On a total sidenote. Is there still any talk of moving to a real
message board? An actual AZ message board would be awesome.
