Man, those are sweet. Courtesy of a
little 'accident' that happened a few weeks ago, I get to order some
armor. :)
But once the check comes, I'm going to sink
about $20 of it into actual materials and fab them myself with the help of a
friend up here. The big difference between the one in that image and
the homebrew ones, is that ours will be secured to the body mount point, and
they will extend as far under as possible (10" in from the rocker edge), and
sit 1/2" below the door. A portion of the front flare will go buh-bye,
but it's all good. The ones in the link unfortunately just mount to
the rocker with the use of countersunk screws, which I don't really
like.
This might make you happy too. Even
though we only spent 30 minutes PER diff., I might be moving to spooled
Dana-44s here very soon. Already geared to 4.10, it would be a very
worthwhile swap. It all depends on whether or not I can barter for
'em.

All right, since I teased you so unmercifully
about your Jeep, here's a link to some cool parts for it to make it
...well, better. :)

It's not the size of the engine...but
the torque it produces.

I can hear all four of those
cylinders now.....brrrm....brrrmm....hurry up, Barbie! Ken's
getting a sunburn!
I like working on Jeeps though.
It's just like a truck only the parts are so small and
light. ::)

Not sweating..... that was just me poor attempt of
being funny and rudely making my way into the
conversation. I really do like my "cheap" Explorist 200, I
just wish it had downloadable maps.... that's the only thing
I don't like.... but the 8MB map that comes with it has been
okay so far. And it appears to be pretty accurate.
As for the automobiles.... I'm a Dodge guy. Wouldn't
trade it for anything.... not a jeep not a scout....
nothing.... I would, however, let you rescue me if I was
stuck!
Anyway, thanks for the chat!

Don't sweat the
wisecracks. The Garmin vs. Magellan rivalry is
similar to that of Chevy/Ford/Dodge or the Mac vs.
PC. I have my reasons, Steve has his reasons, and we
can freely poke fun at each other in the name
of...fun. A friend of mine up here drives an
International Scout as his off-road vehicle of
choice. I drive a Jeep. Every single time
I see him, there is a period of obligatory ridicule for
vehicle choices, and life goes on. :) It took
quite a bit for him to admit to me that he had to have a
Jeep pull him out of the mud once. But now that he
has his MileMarker 12,000 lb winch, I'm sure he'll need to
rescue me at some point in the near future. My
typical response is that Jeep is THE original, but went by
the name Willy back in the day. All others just
followed their lead. =)

Nah,
Steve is just jealous. After all, he does have a
Magellan. :) One
can't be too harsh on another
simply for a misguided purchase.
