It seems that while the rangers were out picking up the caches in the Superstitions this weekend, a new one was placed -- on Black Mesa, about four miles northwest of Weaver's Needle. In other words, right where it shouldn't be, in designated wilderness. The person/team that placed it has been registered for awhile, but only has a few finds. I've never seen the name before, and I assume they don't subscribe here, but I don't know that. I also don't know that this hider didn't ask for and obtain permission, but I think it's safe to say that's unlikely.

Now put a ranger's hat on and ask yourself how you feel about that cache. Surely the rangers neither know nor care who is affiliated with what. They just know that caches are literally being placed faster than they can remove them. It's in all probability an unfortunate coincidence, but I'd bet money it reinforces in their minds that prohibition and confiscation are the right things to do.
