I'm not so sure gas prices would scare me off as far as geocaching goes. It's just having to drive thru Mesa ,Tempe, Ahwatukee, etc. that I don't much care for anymore. If there were quite a few caches in the area that we hadn't gotten, we'd probably have headed over that way. Thanks for thinking of us though. Can you imagine somebody finding a cache and not logging it so the next person thinks he/she is going to get a FTF? What kind of underhanded character would do that? ............. ----- Original Message ----- From: Scott Sparks Sent: Tuesday, April 12, 2005 2:41 AM To: az-geocaching@listserv.azgeocaching.com Subject: [Az-Geocaching] Re: FTF on my newest cache (GCN3W5) If gas wasn't so darn expensive, >:o I'd have been all over that one weeks ago! As it is, it's a bit out of range for a quick drive-by to snag a FTF. Direct Route(tm) says it's about 73.3 miles from my house. With the 10 mpg I get in my truck and gas at about $2.30 /gallon, that's a FTF that would cost me about $34! :-$ And there's no guarantee I'll get there first. In fact, it may have already been found but not yet logged. Some people have been known to delay logging their FTF's as a cruel joke on the 2nd finder. ;-) But I wouldn't know anything about that.
