Steve, RE: "Fortuna in Cache" cache If this cache is located at the old Fortuna Ghost Town/Mine, then I may be able to help. I lived in the Foothills back in '76-'78. I realize that the area has changed a lot since I was last there, but this may help: I lived west of Telegraph Pass in the community known as the "Foothills". At the time, I lived on Foothill Blvd. and would head out the door of my mobile home, hop in my truck and cut through the desert on old trails. The Fortuna Mine may have been about three miles southeast from my home. The mine is on the west side of Telegraph Pass at the southern-most tip of the hills. I don't know how far back Foothills Blvd. goes now, but when I was there it was only about a one mile road that ran south from the freeway. I'm sure the area goes back even further now. (I wouldn't be surprised if there are roads and homes all the way back to the mines by now.) I used to really enjoy going back to the ghost town and mines and explore. There was a shaft that ran straight down and I would throw rocks in to get an idea of the depth. Good luck and have a great/safe journey this weekend. I wish I could be joining all of you! After we find that one, start working > our way back > out to civilization. I agree. Hit Larry's cache first, and then work back out. I just hope that new one (Cabeza Cache) isn't too far out of the way. Also, can someone help me out: Can you get to "Fortuna in Cache" (GC3BBA) from the east? On my topo, it doesn't appear that you can unless you climb that mountain range over and back. I'm interpreting it that to do it, we'd have to drive back out to I-8, go west of Telegraph Pass, and then back into the desert. If I'm right, that means we wouldn't get to it unless we got done with the others MUCH earlier than I anticipate. Assuming we're passing on that one, that would leave these five, and I guess we'd go for them in this sequence: El Camino del Diablo Cabeza Cache Tinajas Altas Kid Rodelo Motown Three Steve Team Tierra Buena There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness". -- Dave Barry _______________________________________________ Az-Geocaching mailing list listserv@azgeocaching.com http://listserv.azgeocaching.com/mailman/listinfo/az-geocaching Arizona's Geocaching Resource http://www.azgeocaching.com
