Personally, I don't have a problem with entrance fees as long as they are publicly funded facilities (State, National Parks, even the State Land Trust Permit). Arcosanti is private, and if you had to pay their fee to get to a cache, personally I'd have a problem with that. Remember when the geocaching.com administration got bent because they were afraid that Darsante had placed a cache inside a Blockbuster store (turned out it was outside, but nearby). I DO in fact consider G-O BOB a "commercial" cache; it's one reason I haven't tried it. But I'm not going to try to persuade anyone to not go for it. If I ever find myself inside the ballpark I'd probably look for it then. And as you so rightly point out, everyone has the right to not go to any cache. If the folks at Arcosanti did place a cache that you had to pay to get to, I'd probably just add it to my list of caches I'm not likely to ever try. "Lost Ark" is on that list, too, and that doesn't cost anything to get to. It's there for a different reason: it looks too hard! I think I know which cache you are referencing, but when I did it the cache container was loaded with quarters. I've been to quite a few caches where an entrance fee was required. Usually these are state parks. What about the virtuals in the National Parks? One of the most educational and enjoyable caches we did was a virtual in a National Park. What about the G-O BOB cache? Are those to be considered commercial caches? I'm sure there are other examples, but we always have the option to not do a particular cache.
