I was addressing the issue of what to use for emergency communication. However, I can see a team spliting up by a distance a couple of hundred yards or so to scout for the easiest route to a cache. At that distance it's a little to far for voice (unless you've got a good set of lungs, then your liable to draw to much attention to your team ), but either FRS/CB will handle that distance without much difficulty. The cost of FRS radios is so low, that they're almost disposable items and probably worth considering as an addition to your cache pack, particularly for multi-person teams. I do feel that their value as an emergency communications device is very limited. As for the helicopter: See the attached jpg. I'm the guy with the OD helmet & yellow shirt. Notice what I've got around my neck... --Fred Team Boulder Creek ----- Original Message ----- From: "Regan Smith" To: Sent: Tuesday, December 31, 2002 6:27 PM Subject: Re: [Az-Geocaching] More Communications > ok so why use a radio or any other communication device other than your > voice while GeoCaching? > > I understand a Cell phone, call for help and hints > > it's not like you and your team mates are like going to be out of ear shot > while looking for a Micro to a Ammo can. > > > now a Helicopter > > _______________________________________________ > Az-Geocaching mailing list > listserv@azgeocaching.com > http://listserv.azgeocaching.com/mailman/listinfo/az-geocaching > > Arizona's Geocaching Resource > http://www.azgeocaching.com
