VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER FORCES PARTIAL CLOSURE OF COCONINO NATIONAL FOREST
(FLAGSTAFF, AZ) – For only the third time in nearly 30 years, fire 
danger is forcing officials to shut down public access to parts of the 
Coconino National Forest.
Although much of the forest will stay open to the public, beginning 
Wednesday May 22 at 8 a.m., about 66% of the forest will be closed to 
all activities such as camping, hiking, biking, walking, jogging and 
picnicking. Campfires or charcoal grills of any kind will not be allowed 
in the remaining open sections of the National Forest. Much of the 
forest areas that have ponderosa pine are being closed to public
