Most vehicles have the airbag sensors in the bumper. There have been accidents where the bumper of the vehicle wasn't hurt even though the vehicle was toast and the airbags never deployed because the sensors didn't get the impact. I think the stuff I've read says never to even exceed 20mph or so or the t-case will grenade. This just got me thinking.... (imagine that!)..... I would think the air bag 'should' be disabled when the vehicle goes into 4hi... or 4wd period. In 4 low you are just basically crawling along and although you might be bumping and bouncing.. I wouldnt think you would be taking any jarring bounces going that slow... in 4 low, you are just crawling over rocks and such. Now in 4 hi, you are likely traveling at a faster speed and if you hit a bit of a bump at higher speeds, that could more likely potentially cause the airbag to pop out. I dont know about the stock gearing in a Jeep, but my truck in 4 low will not go over perhaps 5 mph!!!! :) Scott Team Ropingthewind ____________________________________________________________ Az-Geocaching mailing list listserv@azgeocaching.com To edit your setting, subscribe or unsubscribe visit: http://listserv.azgeocaching.com/mailman/listinfo/az-geocaching Arizona's Geocaching Resource http://www.azgeocaching.com DISCLAIMER: This message is confidential, intended only for the named recipient(s) and may contain information that is privileged or exempt from disclosure under applicable law.
