The air bag system is automatically disabled when the t-case is shifted into 4-lo. If the air bag light is coming on, it indicates that there is a fault somewhere in the system, and should be investigated. The computer will tell you where the fault is, and an OBDII scanner should tell you what exactly is wrong. Technically, it is illegal to tamper with the air bag system on your vehicle in any way. -----Original Message----- From: az-geocaching-bounces@listserv.azgeocaching.com [mailto:az-geocaching-bounces@listserv.azgeocaching.com]On Behalf Of dtanderson Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2005 12:35 PM To: listserv@azgeocaching.com Subject: [Az-Geocaching] OT: Jeep question I have a 1998 Cherokee Sport with the 4.0 engine. The airbag light keeps coming on and off, sometimes for a long while, other times not long at all. Luckily it hides behind the GPS so I don't always see it. I was thinking the other day about the practicality of the jeep and wondering two things: 1 - What keeps the airbag from deploying while undergoing extremem four-wheel drive conditions? 2 - Can the airbag be safely disabled? If so, how?
